Magnesium
Safety concerns: there are many safety precautions that everyone should be aware of such as:
1. Goggles- keeps things out of your eyes
2. Girls have hair pulled back- when you have long hair it tends to get in the way
3. No baggy clothes
4. Closed toe shoes

Materials:
1. Buncent burner
2.tripod
3. Clay triangle
4. Crucible
5. Magnesium
6. 2 batteries
7. Christmas lights
8. Alligator clips

Procedure:
1. Cut 2 pieces of magnesium
2. We intertwined the 2 magnesiums together
3. Massed the empty crucible
4. Zeroed out the scale and massed the piece of magnesium in the crucible
5. Removed the magnesium
6. Placed the crucible on the clay triangle
7. We then lit the buncent burner
8. Grabbed the piece of magnesium with the tongs, then placed it in the fire
9. While holding it your not supposed to look directly at the flame
10. Dropped it into the crucible to let it cool off
11. once cooled off we weighed it again and it gained mass.
12.we then got the christmas lights so we could see if they would light and they did.

Results:
Weight of crucible- 35.61

Mass of magnesium- 0.09

Mass of magnesium after burning- 1. 03

*did conduct electricity
Error- no known error

Questions from book-

1. Weight of crucible- 35.61

Mass of magnesium- 0.09

Mass of magnesium after burning- 1. 03

2. It was exothermic because when you touched it, it was really hot and the spark that came off was really bright.

3. when we did the electricity conduction it showed that it was reactable.

4. MgO and Mg3O2

5. Magnesium and oxygen

6. yes it did conduct electricty

7. mine gained mass

1.

2. milk of magnesia
